Childrens | Cartoons: THE THREE MUSKETEERS - SUN9031

The author of this swah-buckling tale, Alexandre Dums, was born in 1802 in Villers-Coterets, just north of Paris, to a very cosmopolitan family history. Whereas his parents were relatively ordinary – his father was a soldier in Napoleon’s army and his mother the daughter of an innkeeper – his grandparents’ lives told a different story. His grandfather was a marquis, a nobleman who had married a slave who came from the country now known as Haiti. When Dumas was only 4, his father died leaving him and his mother penniless. His chequered history fed his creativity and informed his writing of the many different strata of French society. A young nobleman, d’Artagnan, who travels to Paris to join The King’s Musketeers. There he forms a special bond with Athos, Porthos and Aramis, the Three Musketeers of the title and together they unite against the wicked people in the King’s court.
